In August of 2017, Martin Schoeller’s studio reached out to me to produce a photo series for New York Magazine’s 50th Anniversary Issue. The assignment was to make fifty portraits representing fifty religions in New York City. Between the end of August and the end of September I conducted research, selected, contacted, and corresponded with subjects, scheduled shoots, and often conducted interviews. We ultimately created over fifty portraits, which have been featured not only in New York Magazine, but on Martin’s Instagram and in Süddeutsche Zeitung.
While at NBCNews.com I acted as lead photo editor for a four-part feature detailing the political rise of Donald Trump, sourcing images from Mark Peterson’s work for MSNBC and from his previous political coverage. Day-to-day I also curated photos, and often wrote text, for historical, breaking news, and weekly slideshows.
